Biography
Self taught fine art photographer with extensive experience in analog photography, developing and printing in personal darkroom and in working with digital cameras. Jacob was born in the city of Gouda, in the Netherlands in 1959.
At the age of twelve, Jacob's father gave him his very first camera. It was his old camera, an Agfa Click I. Jacob still has some of those old photos.
At the age of sixteen Jacob bought his first SLR camera and consequently learnt to develop and print black and white films. Since money was short, he built an enlarger made out of wood himself and used the lens of his camera.
Since 2014, after quitting a demanding job in facilities management and real estate, Jacob has been focusing on simple, natural and sustainable living. The new way of living is surely reflected in his work. Jacob is exploring the simpleness and stillness of pure, natural environments through the lens of a camera.
In 2018, him and his wife moved from a large city to a small hamlet in northwest Jutland. Both fell in love with the Thy-Region over ten years ago. They conduct a simple, minimalistic life, trying to be as self sufficient and sustainable as possible. As his muses and inspiration, Jacob explores The North and Thy National Park.
His selection of photographs are being exhibited all around the world and have been sold to collectors and art lovers in many different countries.
