There are moments in every creative journey when a pause becomes necessary.
Like many businesses and cultural spaces, LJL Galleries closed its doors during the COVID-19 pandemic. What was expected to be a temporary closure eventually became a much longer pause. For nearly four years, the gallery remained quiet while life, priorities, and the world around us continued to change.
Yet throughout that time, one thing never disappeared: the belief that art matters.
Art helps tell stories. It preserves culture. It sparks conversation. It challenges perspectives. It creates connections between people, places, and ideas. Most importantly, it reminds us that creativity endures even in uncertain times.
When the opportunity arose to reopen the gallery, the decision was not simply about reopening a physical space. It was about creating opportunities for artists, collectors, visitors, and the community.
Today, LJL Galleries is entering a new chapter, one focused not only on exhibiting artwork but also on exploring new ways to support artists, foster creativity, and strengthen connections within the community.
We are reconnecting with artists, developing new initiatives, and thoughtfully building a foundation for the future, one that reflects both where we’ve come from and where we hope to go.
Some initiatives are already underway, while others are being developed as part of a larger vision that continues to evolve through experience, collaboration, and opportunity. From exhibitions and artist development programs to virtual experiences, community partnerships, and the continued growth of the Rocky Mountain Art Tour, we are exploring ways to create meaningful opportunities for artists and art enthusiasts alike.
As with any meaningful journey, new opportunities emerge, priorities shift, and unexpected paths reveal themselves along the way.
We do not view this reopening as a return to what was; we see it as an opportunity to thoughtfully shape what comes next.
While we have a vision for the future, we also recognize that the most rewarding journeys often take unexpected turns. The future is not something we have fully defined; it is something we are actively creating.
What remains unchanged is our belief in the importance of art, artists, and community.
We believe artists deserve opportunities to share their work. We believe creative spaces enrich the communities they serve. We believe meaningful conversations can begin with a single piece of artwork hanging on a wall.
As we continue to grow, learn, and build, we invite you to be part of the process.
Visit the gallery. Explore the artwork. Meet the artists. Follow the journey.
The next chapter is not yet fully written, and that may be the most exciting part of all.
